Simple Slide Show is now open source

Filed under: General — adam @ 10:00 pm

I’ve taken that old Simple Slide Show program I wrote years ago and given it a bit of a brush-up. I also changed the licensing so it is open source.

As a bonus, I have added a new feature to allow you to customise the colour and font used in the image captions.

You could use the source code from this to make your own more fully-featured slide show application, or just use it as example code for writing whatever. I hope you find it useful.

Adam, your Simple Slide Show is fantastic. I just found it while searching for “simple slideshow.” It’s exactly the extra self-executable I need. I’ve had folks that couldn’t figure out how to click on basic folders or anything. Now I can slap this onto photo CDs for my clients who need the absolute simplest way I can provide to view their images. Nice work. -E

Like the idea if it worked for me. Did I do something wrong. I used Nero to burn a DATA CD containing only the INF AND THE EXE AND A FEW JPGS, and system crashed each attempt to use it in autoplay, and in click the exe, and in click the inf on the cd. Help?

I made a screenshot of the error message, saying problem with the exe. Do you want to see it? if so email me so I can attach. Regards!

Does it work OK if you just click the EXE on the hard drive without burning it to a CD ?
What version of Windows are you running ?
Have you tried it with some different JPEG files – it could be a particular JPEG file that it doesn’t like.
