The string quartet has been around for yonks, but in
the hands of FourPlay, it becomes something new, very
much alive and revolving. FourPlay are well known for
their unusual interpretations of rock/pop music and
their original compositions.
Digital Manipulation, a double-CD three
years in the making, is the result of opening these
original pieces to radical interpretations by some of
Australia's most highly respected electronic artists,
and a few very talented new comers, including B(if)tek,
Quark Kent, Purdy, uBin, Deep Child, Pimmon and The
5000 Fingers of Dr.T.
Digital Manipulation is a truly wonderful
journey through the hybrid world of digital music and
a stunningly diverse showcase of Australian electronica.
The range of approaches is astonishing - dub, drum'n'bass,
experimental, ambient electronica and all the frequencies
between and beyond.
Devised, created and administered by FourPlay's cellist,
Peter Hollo (aka Raven), Digital Manipulation
blends the timeless entity of the string quartet with
the futurist artform of the remix.
Disc 2, Track 6 "August (setting
free mix)" remix and additional production by Jasper
Russell and Adam Pierce. Copyright 2001 The 5000 Fingers
of Dr.T. Original composition by FourPlay.
